CMLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the City of Calgary and was incorporated in 2007. The corporation is governed by a seven-member Board of Directors comprised of industry leaders appointed by the City. The Board has the authority and responsibility to manage the business affairs of CMLC within the business plan and budget approved annually by City Council.
CMLC is committed to accountability and transparency at all levels. The corporation reports directly to the City of Calgary as its sole shareholder, and ultimately, to all Calgarians.
Since the day it was founded, CMLC has actively engaged Calgarians in its plans for East Village and the Rivers District, welcoming public input through various public engagement activities and guided by a CMLC Advisory Committee. This diverse 18-person committee has representation from Calgary City Council, Calgary’s business and arts communities, local social agencies, academia, local community associations and land owners. The Advisory Committee provides valuable feedback as eclectic and exciting as the area itself.
