Sustainability is the foundation of East Village’s rejuvenation. From the very beginning, sustainable development has been one of the key principles guiding the master plan for the neighbourhood.
CMLC’s vision of East Village as a sustainable mixed-use community embraces the creation of a healthy, vibrant neighbourhood – one that combines environmental stewardship, social well-being and economic prosperity.
So far, we’ve made huge strides in this direction. We’ve cleaned up the soil. We’ve improved the walkability of the neighbourhood. We’ve created green spaces, a community garden and recreational amenities like RiverWalk. We’ve saved heritage buildings and introduced solar recycling units. Even our funding model is built on the principle of long-term sustainability.
