East Village

Spanning 49 acres between Fort Calgary and the downtown business core, East Village resides at the heart of downtown Calgary. A desirable piece of real estate that achieves the highest ideals of “location, location, location,” it is bordered by the Bow River to the north and 9th Avenue SE to the south.

Back in 1875, East Village was downtown in its entirety. In fact, it’s where Calgary was founded. Over the years, however, the area fell on hard times. The neighbourhood became known for its abandoned future and vacant lots.

Fast forward to today. East Village is in the midst an exciting transformation. Since 2007, CMLC has invested more than $180 million into East Village infrastructure. Construction of two major mixed-use residential projects with roughly 1,400 new condos is well underway, as is construction of the National Music Centre and the revitalization of St. Patrick’s Island and Bridge. The first three phases of RiverWalk and RiverWalk Plaza are now complete, and more development announcements are forthcoming.

It’s a new dawn for East Village, and an exciting new future for Calgary’s urban living!
