East Village/Infrastructure

Some streets within East Village require improvements to accommodate wider sidewalks and narrower carriageways, as well as utility upgrades and the introduction of flood control measures.

New roads such as the Riverfront Avenue connection make entry into East Village easier, while 9th Avenue SE has been converted to two-way traffic to help traffic flow into the downtown core. 8th Avenue SE has undergone a complete face-lift that includes new landscaping, street lights and signage. The road was completely rebuilt, underground utilities were installed and sidewalks were widened and re-constructed.

To date, Confluence Way SE, 8th Avenue SE, 6th Street SE and 6th Avenue SE and Riverfront Avenue SE have been completed.  Work will continue in 2012 along 7th Avenue S.E.
