The existing St. Patrick’s Bridge sits near the west end of St. Patrick’s Island. While the current bridge links the island to East Village, it does not extend to the north bank of the Bow River.
The design for a new St. Patrick’s Bridge was announced in 2010, and will connect St. Patrick’s Island to East Village to the south and Bridgeland to the north.
The new St. Patrick’s Bridge is a critical part of the vision for the future East Village. Not only will it play an important role in bringing St. Patrick’s Island back to life, it will be a key connector for Calgarians entering East Village and downtown from Bridgeland.
Construction on St. Patrick’s Bridge will begin in the fall 2011.
RFR/Halsall's winning design takes its cues from both the urban and the natural environments.
