The master plan process for St. Patrick’s Island was a year-long process that included extensive public engagement and activities designed to help shape the future for this unique park space. Since May 2010, we’ve connected with more than 6,000 Calgarians, gathering public feedback through a variety of methods. We’ve held three on-line surveys, including a visual preferences survey where you matched pictures to possibilities for the island. We’ve hosted focus groups and open houses. We’ve even held public studios, where you literally drew your ideas, providing a canvas for us to work from. We also set up a St. Patrick’s Island Advisory Committee to represent the wants and needs of Calgarians.
The St. Patrick’s Island Master Plan was released July 2011 and will be the foundation for landscape design on the island. For more information about the plan process and next steps, please review the information below.
An 11-person advisory committee was struck by CMLC to assist in guiding the master plan process for St. Patrick’s Island. The committee was comprised of a variety of community stakeholders and representatives. During the master plan process the committee met on five occasions.
