About East Village CLOSE

East Village is adjacent to historic Fort Calgary in the heart of downtown. This community, once best known for its rampant crime and vacant lots, has now become one of the busiest construction sites in the city. With plans to transform it into one of the most vibrant areas within the downtown core, East Village will offer some of the hippest shopping, dining, recreational and residential opportunities.
 
As we focus on revitalizing East Village, four key projects have been identified to prepare the land for public and private sector development. These projects include: infrastructure improvements and upgrades, Fourth Street underpass construction, the rejuvenation of four heritage buildings, and environmental remediation throughout the area.
