A leading example of CMLC's environmental stewardship is the creation of an interpretive wetland habitat in the east end of East Village. The site is home to a new stormwater treatment facility that is designed to use wetland plantings and retention time to clean stormwater runoff collected from the streets of the Rivers District. What does this all mean? Essentially, the dirty water coming off of the streets of East Village will be cleaned naturally before it goes back into the Bow River. The wetland will be a kind of natural museum that will teach visitors of its benefits to the environment and our community.
