RiverWalk Development Progress

After a robust construction year in 2009, we are on track to celebrate the opening of RiverWalk Stage 1, Phase 1 in September 2010.  This phase of RiverWalk extends from 3^rd Street West to a new public plaza next to the Simmons Building.

Phase 1 will mark the completion of the reconstruction of the river bank and landings, upgrading the bank with new retaining walls, soft landscaping and lighting. RiverWalk Phase 1 will also celebrate the opening of the pedestrian and cyclist’s pathway, the public plaza behind the Simmons Building and three observation decks that overlook the Bow River.

Construction on Phase 2 will also begin in this spring and will extend through the year with a public opening late 2011. As with Phase 1, we will begin work on the river bank before focusing on the upper lands (above the top of the bank).

The CMLC team remains very excited about this project and we look forward to delivering it on time for all Calgarians' to enjoy.
