East Village Experience Centre Opens!

The EV Experience Centre, East Village’s $2.4 million visitor and sales facility, is now officially open. The 8,000 sq. ft. centre is the neighbourhood’s newest landmark and provides Calgarians with their first look at the future residences now available for sale in East Village. The opening marks a new era in the transformation of the area into a master planned urban village in the heart of downtown Calgary.

Boasting the craftsmanship of some of Calgary’s most innovative designers and artisans, the EV Experience Centre sits next to the Bow River at553 Riverfront Avenue SE. The facility is the result of a partnership between the Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC) and developers FRAM + Slokker and Embassy Bosa Inc.

The EV Experience Centre is a hybrid; it combines a visitor information centre that highlights the story of East Village and its evolution into a neighbourhood that will eventually house 11,500 residents, as well as a sales centre showcasing the residential units and stylings of the neighbourhood’s pioneering developers.

“The partners chose to adopt a destination-styled approach to promoting East Village, rather than undertaking independent efforts,” said Lyle Edwards, Chairman, Board of Directors, Calgary Municipal Land Corporation. “We recognized that by working together we could deliver a stronger, more compelling community story.”

Interested buyers can choose between residential projects along the Bow River, near RiverWalk or near Fort Calgary. Extensive research was done on the wants and needs of the ‘urban explorer’ audience; the group identified as most likely to call East Village home. Those findings are reflected in the wide variety of residential styles being brought to market.

The living spaces for FUSE in Embassy BOSA’s EVOLUTION project and FIRST by FRAM+Slokker, offer very different interpretations on downtown living. The EVOLUTION project offers spacious units, on average 1000 sq. ft., which are modern, chic and timeless in their presentation. FIRST by FRAM+Slokker offers buyers a European flavoured design with easy functionality, moveable kitchen islands, multi-use social gathering spaces and lounges.

“We wanted to appeal to a broad cross section of residents at different stages of life,” said Michael Brown, CMLC President & CEO. “Price point, finishing details, access to the neighbourhood and cultural amenities are all important considerations for the future residents.”
