East Victoria Park is Calgary's emerging Culture + Entertainment District.
In 2018, CMLC and Calgary Stampede unveiled a 20-year master-plan vision to transform east Victoria Park into Calgary’s Culture + Entertainment District. Building on the spirit of entertainment that resides in its DNA, the district is now taking shape as a vibrant, high-density neighbourhood making way for four million sq ft of new mixed-use development and more than 8,000 additional residents.
One of Calgary’s first neighbourhoods is on the rise again
The C+E sits at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow Rivers in a place the Blackfoot call Moh’kinsstis—‘elbow’. Since time immemorial, this stunning natural landscape has served as a traditional gathering and trading place.
With a spirit and magnetism charged by cultural institutions like the Stampede Festival and the Calgary Flames, it continues to thrive as a place that draws people together.
Our Progress
To set the stage for the rise of The C+E
To set the stage for the rise of The C+E, CMLC has invested more than $600 million into foundational infrastructure and city-building projects to enhance the existing urban fabric and begin reshaping the district into a vibrant, connected and resilient community with enhanced connections to adjacent neighbourhoods. Major projects currently underway include the BMO Centre expansion, 17th Avenue extension and Victoria Park/Stampede Station rebuild and Stampede Trail.
Rivers District Master Plan (RDMP)
In 2018, CMLC completed the master plan for east Victoria Park that imagines a 20-year vision for Calgary’s Culture + Entertainment district, a vibrant, high-density, mixed-use community that draws on the spirit of entertainment that resides in its DNA, as well as its natural surroundings.
Where Calgary Comes Together
As with East Village, CMLC has worked hard to develop and promote a powerful place brand, and to familiarize key audiences with The C+E through integrated and strategic campaigns focused on key district milestones, partnerships and programming activations.
