You might just be the perfect fit for our Engagement, Activation & Street Team (EAST Team).

Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC), the master developer of Calgary’s East Village and The Culture + Entertainment District is seeking part-time employees to join our team from April 27, 2026 – October 28, 2026. We are seeking candidates who are confident and engaged and will approach event execution and brand ambassador duties with exuberance and a positive attitude.

  • You already love East Village and often find yourself advocating for what thriving urban neighbourhoods do for our city
  • You’re excited about the future Culture and Entertainment District and can envision the area as a thriving, bustling scene
  • Your friends might say you’re too chatty, but you just think silence is super awkward
  • You like there to be a bit of a physical component to your job, it makes you feel productive and you don’t mind digging in to get the job done plus you like it to look just right
  • You have a desire to grow your event management and marketing skill set

Most of the things you’ll get up to as a member of EAST Team:

  • Support the delivery of a robust calendar of outdoor activations, events and programming in East Village, St Patrick’s Islandand in The Culture + Entertainment District
  • Be committed to providing a positive experience for everyone that you encounter
  • Perform all necessary set-up and tear-down duties for activations, following direction from production schedules and supervisors (lifting, bending, walking, biking and light cleaning is required)
  • Intercept and engage with area visitors and event participants in order to educate on East Village and/or The Culture + Entertainment District and CMLC’s broader city-building initiatives
  • Understand and deliver key messages to advance the public’s familiarity with the neighbourhood, progress and milestones, upcoming activations, events and programming, etc.
  • Support the retail ‘Merch’ program with sales and fulfillment of our cool, locally sourced products
  • Distribute promotional collateral and brand tools to area visitors and event participants
  • Serve as an on-site representative to third-party event coordinators at park and event spaces in East Village, St Patrick’s Island and The Culture + Entertainment District
  • Capture the energy, activities and interactions taking place through cell phone photography
  • Notify maintenance team when site support is required
  • Manage inventory of on-site supplies and marketing collateral, ensure storage areas are organized

This is a part-time position with 2-4 shifts available per week and 6-20 projected hours per week. Most shifts take place on evenings and weekends and most are outside. Successful candidates must have a flexible schedule able to accommodate these shifts.

    Duration of Placement: 4 Months (May 1, 2026 – August 30, 2026) Background and General Scope of Position: Reporting to the Development Manager, the Development Intern is an opportunity for a post-secondary student to participate meaningfully in the future evolution of Calgary’s Rivers District and Transit-Oriented Communities. The Development Intern will be responsible for assisting Development Managers and the Director of Design with day-to-day responsibilities required to complete planning approvals, urban design and master planning, infrastructure, open space, and large-scale built form development projects across CMLC’s existing and future land portfolio. The successful applicant must have a strong eye for good design and must be passionate about human-centred placemaking. Key Accountabilities / Deliverables: Conducting research and completing recommendations on best practices in city building, design, and placemaking as it relates to public infrastructure (streets, parks, plazas, etc.), and urban design and land use plans Creating planning and urban design assets, images, and correspondence, such as 3D digital models, massing studies, PowerPoint presentations, infographics, and visualizations that convey complicated information in a concise, easily understandable format, tied to best practices/precedents of other city-building projects Completing various development research exercises relating to land analysis, urban design, streetscape design, parcel configurations, land use planning, and infrastructure Reviewing and evaluating urban design and master planning documents as they relate to established guidelines and frameworks for complete communities Assisting with procuring consultants to conduct site due diligence including land appraisals, geotechnical, environmental site assessments, site surveys, etc. Reviewing consultant proposals and reports and preparing/amending contracts as required Providing support as required to Development Managers and the Director of Design to assist with strategic projects and land strategies including project management plans, request for proposals, budgets, change orders, invoicing, and correspondence such as memos and PowerPoint presentations Support with weekly site walks and public realm quality control reviews, ensuring that community infrastructure is maintained to a high standard. Research best practices and design interventions that enhance community safety as required and directed. Qualifications: Critical Competencies: Time Management / Organized Adaptability / Flexibility Collaboration / Teamwork Problem Solver / Forward Thinker Key Functional Skills: Effective Communicator Ability to multitask Technological Savvy Interpersonal Skills Experience and Education: Currently enrolled in post-secondary education in architecture, landscape architecture, or land use planning Experience in Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD, InDesign, Or Adobe Photoshop is preferred Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Project Management experience considered an asset
