A critical north-south connector and streetscape enhancements in The Culture + Entertainment District

Another critical infrastructure investment in vital connectivity.
CMLC is managing a series of infrastructure projects that support the overall delivery of the Rivers District Master Plan and the integration and development of a new Event Centre in The Culture + Entertainment District. Infrastructure work will include a 6th Street underpass, originally identified in the Rivers District Master Plan as a north-south connector critical to the area’s full build out. District infrastructure work will also include streetscape development along 14th Avenue, creation of a new street (5A Street SE), enhancements up to 25th Avenue, and Stampede Trail.
Like the neighbouring 4th street underpass which was completed in 2011, this underpass will improve access to and through The C+E and a connection to East Village and surrounding communities.
This infrastructure will facilitate seamless integration of the new facility into The Culture + Entertainment District.
The underpass and surrounding streetscape improvements will expand possibilities for nearby riverfront residential development.
This work will be delivered in close coordination with neighbouring projects including the Event Centre, Stampede Trail and the Green Line LRT project.
As several major city-building projects near completion in The Culture + Entertainment District, CMLC advances new 6 St S.E. Underpass project and prepares for construction on Arts Commons Transformation project.
