Background and General Scope of Position:

Reporting to the CFO & VP, Corporate Services, the Financial Analyst will play a key part in delivering accurate financial insight and support corporate decision-making through forecasting, modeling, and reporting. The successful candidate will work with a wide range of strategic and operational initiatives, including special projects and process improvement efforts.

The successful candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise and business acumen, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate it clearly to stakeholders across the organization.

The successful candidate possesses excellent interpersonal skills and is comfortable working cross-functionally to support high-impact initiatives. This person has a strong foundation in financial analysis, and data visualization which enables them to provide accurate and insightful recommendations that drive value across the organization.

Key Accountabilities / Deliverables:

  • Lead financial forecasting, identifying trends and risks to inform planning, support with budgeting, and variance analysis.
  • Build and maintain financial models to support long-term planning, investment analysis, and business cases.
  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and visualizations to communicate financial data to stakeholders.
  • Assist in ad hoc analysis and special projects, providing timely and actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to produce financial proformas for upcoming projects.
  • Support the implementation of initiatives that increase control awareness and financial accountability across the organization.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Desired Education

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. CPA, CFA, or progress toward a professional designation is an asset.


ESSENTIAL RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a financial analyst or similar role.
  • Experience in the Development Industry preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with experience in financial modeling.
  • Experience with dashboard and BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial audiences.

    Development

    The Vice President, Development is accountable for establishing and leading CMLC’s development function as a scalable, enterprise‑integrated capability that supports increasing project complexity, portfolio growth, and long‑term city‑building outcomes. This role provides strategic and operational leadership across the full development lifecycle—from land acquisition, concept development, feasibility, and deal structuring through to project delivery alignment—while serving as CMLC’s senior development voice with the City of Calgary, development partners, and key stakeholders.     Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing, the Marketing Coordinator will be a multi-talented individual; involved in supporting the execution of social media strategy, social media account coordination, consumer marketing and brand programs, and overall departmental needs as required. The successful candidate must be a detail and task-oriented self-starter, who is keen to be part of a fast-paced team that is leading marketing and communications programs for East Village, Calgary’s Culture + Entertainment District and CMLC platforms.
