Rivers District Streetscape Guidelines

Important measures to uphold the integrity of our placemaking practice

Formalized design principles to guide future streetscaping in The C+E.

Overview

Shaping The C+E’s public realm… and upping its curb appeal

Streetscapes are an integral aspect of east Victoria Park’s public spaces and the overall C+E experience. The Rivers District Streetscape Guidelines consolidate design principles articulated in the Rivers District Master Plan. We are formalizing these principles to support a consistent look and feel for streetscaping as development progresses in The C+E, which in turn elevates the neighbourhood’s power of place.

Key Takeaways

  • 1

    Signalling entry into someplace special

Visual consistency reinforces sense of place, facilitates wayfinding, and adds value for our residential development and retail partners.

  • 2

    Incentivizing private investment

By elevating neighbourhood character and curb appeal, streetscape design consistency is a strong real estate value proposition.

  • 3

    Elevating the appeal for pedestrians

Consistent, well-planned public realms encourage pedestrian movement—shopping, walking to work, attending entertainment events.
