First homeowners move into ‘The Heights’

Calgary Municipal Land Corporation and Attainable Homes Calgary celebrate completion of first of 230 affordable townhomes on former David D. Oughton school site in Albert Park/Radisson Heights.
As demand for affordable housing in Calgary continues to grow,Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC) and Attainable Homes Calgary are pleased to celebrate the completion of the first phase of 230 affordable townhome-style homes on the former David D. Oughton school site in Albert Park/Radisson Heights.
“We’re thrilled to welcome the first homeowners to The Heights,” said Jaydan Tait, President and CEO of Attainable Homes Calgary. “These townhomes are thoughtfully designed to respond to an immediate and pressing need for housing, while also contributing positively to the Albert Park/Radisson Heights community, with design that reflects and respects the surrounding community and provides publicly accessible green space.”
Attainable Homes’ The Heights project will offer a range of one- to five-bedroom owner-occupied townhomes, which face onto adjacent neighbourhood streets, with access to unit parking enabled off an interior laneway. The development also features dedicated green space on approximately three acres of the total site, featuring a fenced off-leash dog park, basketball courts and gathering spaces accessible to the broader community and serving as a complement to the new homes. The green space is under construction and is expected to be completed in fall 2026.
The two wholly owned subsidiaries of The City of Calgary formed a partnership for the site in 2023. CMLC purchased the land – an 8.77-acre site – from The City of Calgary in 2018 and in 2023 finalized a partnership for the site with Attainable Homes, an organization created by The City in 2009 to help moderate-income Calgarians attain home ownership.
“Calgary’s population is growing, as is the demand for affordable housing options,” said Kate Thompson, President and CEO of CMLC. “There is considerable opportunity and need for well-designed and thoughtfully delivered affordable housing in our city, and we are delighted that this partnership has enabled us to bring this housing to life.”
“The Heights is a welcome addition to the community of Albert Park/Radisson Heights,” said Ward 9 Councillor Harrison Clark. “In our growing city, it’s important that we continue to create housing solutions that are accessible, sustainable, and responsive to the needs of residents, and this project does just that.”
The Heights’ first two buildings totaling 10 homes are completed, and the first homeowners began moving in in late May. The first 30 units have been sold, with more of the remaining 200 units to be sold as buildings are completed and released for sale through 2026 and 2027.
