Since 2007, CMLC has been transforming Calgary—brick by brick, block by block, idea by idea—creating places that connect, inspire, and redefine the way people experience our city.
For CMLC and our communities, 2025 was a year defined by progress, partnership and purposeful city-building. As we advanced the first year of our 2025–2029 Strategic Plan, our team—now more than 40 passionate city-builders and placemakers strong—continued to deliver on major civic infrastructure projects, support vibrant neighbourhood growth and apply our expertise to new opportunities across Calgary. With momentum building across East Village and The C+E, and in our evolving efforts in transit-oriented community development, 2025 marked another transformative chapter for CMLC and for the city we serve.
Following the municipal election on October 20, 2025, CMLC is pleased to welcome Mayor Jeromy Farkas and two new Councillor appointments to CMLC’s Board of Directors: Ward 4 Councillor DJ Kelly and Ward 11 Councillor Rob Ward.

For CMLC and our communities, 2024 was a banner year for grand openings and groundbreakings, for development progress and programming activations. Here’s just a taste of what we delivered together in 2024.
The 17 Avenue SE extension and Victoria Park/Stampede Station rebuild—our largest street-level infrastructure improvement initiative to date—is a tangible expression of our commitment to connectivity. Here’s how we brought the vision to life.
At CMLC, we build big so you can live better. And the BMO Centre expansion is about as big as they get. We're reflecting on our largest build to-date: the $500 million, 565,000 square foot BMO Centre expansion. From designing and constructing during COVID and keeping the existing BMO Centre fully operational throughout construction to telling the project story on the world stage and opening on time and on budget, CMLC's dedicated team of city-builders is proud to have delivered another architectural icon in downtown Calgary's east end. Here's how we did it.
Now that the BMO Centre expansion has officially opened and visitors are experiencing its offerings, we conclude our Countdown to Completion series by highlighting how this impressive 565,000-square-foot building represents a significant leap forward for Calgary's events and hospitality industry and energizes Calgary's Culture + Entertainment District.
